Apollo 11-inspired break-out booths designed for bars, offices and gardens.
The Brief
Create a sculptural seating pod inspired by the Apollo 11 lunar module, suitable for bars, restaurants, offices and gardens, with a vintage-looking exterior and a luxury interior.
Our Approach
We researched the original lunar module exhibition at the Science Museum in London to lock in shape and detail. The exterior reads as nuts-and-bolts metal sheet cladding but is actually cast in fibreglass for weather durability and visual fidelity, then scenically painted with fake rust and chipped paint to look 50 years old. Inside, the shape was tuned for comfortable seating, with window hatches isolating occupants and a closing door. Interiors come in three planet-inspired colourways: Moon (grey/silver), Mars (burnt orange) and Neptune (turquoise/cobalt), each with feature tables in marble, jasper and lapis lazuli, galaxy light fittings and integrated air-conditioning.
