Mugshot Giant Mug Activation | Barcode Festival, Hawker House
A 3m x 3.1m giant Mugshot mug built as the centrepiece for Barcode Festival.
The Brief
Produce a 3m x 3.1m brand mug that worked as a festival centrepiece, hosted interactive games, packed down to travel and stood up to a busy public event.
Our Approach
The mug was engineered around a pre-designed aluminium tube frame, chosen for its strength-to-weight ratio and cost. Frame nodes used a button-press connection system so the structure could be assembled and dismantled fast. A stretchable red fabric skin, printed double-sided with the Mugshot brand and sealed with a zip, wrapped the frame in seconds. The final flourish was a two-metre handle, CNC-cut from polystyrene on a five-axis machine, hard-coated and painted to match.
